Oval watercolor 20 X 24 cm, remounted with a cleat and a “museum” glass in its original frame, slightly worn with gilding, 23 X 26 cm. If Redouté was the greatest watercolourist of flowers of the first half of the 19th century, Blanche Odin is the greatest of the first half of the 20th century. If, of course, it was her roses that so deservedly ensured her reputation, she excelled in the representations of all kinds of flowers as can be seen in the excellent works of Monique Pujo-Monfran or by visiting the Salies de Bagnères de Bigorre museum. Here, the Artist seduces us by offering us these delicate bouquets of violets placed on an entablature whose purple and green stand out against the yellow and orange background.
