Conversation in front of the farm in Lespars
Francois-maurice Roganeau
1883-1973
Drawing with two pencils (red chalk and graphite) 17 X 20 cm mounted by a fine Marie-Louis in a pretty oak frame with golden border 27 X 30 cm.
Roganeau, a famous Bordeaux artist, was winner of the First Grand Prix de Rome in 1906 and, as such, provided many public and private commissions, but he loved the Basque Country very much, which he transcribed in scenes that were always interesting as well as oil than in these marvelous drawings, always precise and nevertheless admirably composed.
Here, two women are chatting quietly in front of a typical farm in Lespars near Saint-Etienne de Baïgorry in the heart of the Irouleguy vineyard. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
In partnership with the Galerie Lafouresse, we are specialists in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin.
