Gogotte of Fontainebleau
Silica
17 X 10 X 10 cm approximately
Real natural sculptures, the gogottes of Fontainebleau are only found in France in a geological layer called “sands of Fontainebleau”. Made up of more than 99% of silica (siliceous crystals agglomerated by a siliceous cement), they belong to a phenomenon of dissolution / sedimentation which, by the path taken by mineral-laden water, determines random forms which, allied to their whiteness, give them of a high aesthetic degree which has made them collect in the cabinets of curiosities. Look at this one: would not we say on a certain angle a turbaned character and under others a sculpture of Brancusi?
An old break allows to lay it flat.
