Lady in staircase

Little know to the general public, Guillaume Larrue, a native of Bordeaux studied with Alexandre Cabanel who instilled in him his beautiful classical profession which he later applied to his views of Paris his works produced for the Salons, but especially to his intimate interior scenes in which we find the cross influence of the Bordeaux School and that of 17th century Dutch painters like Vermeer or Nicolas Maes.
In this beautiful canvas, the small details surronding the young woman descending the waxed staircase of this house such as the tiling at the foot of the stairs, the wallpaper, the bouquet of gladioli and mimosas or the painting hanging on the wall contribute to its charm which evokes the holidays with loved grandparents.
