Portrait of a young boy
René Marie Castaing
Pastel 40 X 31 cm on bistre paper, signed and dated 1941 in a 66 X 57 cm carved wood original frame rechampi a slightly deformed.
The great artist René-Marie Castaing, First Grand Prix of Rome 1924 excelled particularly in works on paper: charcoals, pastels or gouaches. If I have never met him for obvious reasons of dates, his native house was right in front of the Galerie de Pau! With a sensitivity that allowed him to feel the soul of his models, he gives us here an adorable portrait of a little boy. See also two studies of frescoes for the Church of Bizanos.
