Prayer in front of the village
Raymond Dierickx
1904-1978
Gouache 49 X 60 cm mounted under neutral pH mat 60 X 80 cm.
Capped in Joan of Arc, a man is damaged in prayer in front of a village below on the place of which a circus has planted its tent. It was for us a real discovery that this beautiful Belgian artist! Even found in leaves and dusty, these drawings, once prepared and framed, reveal all the talent of Dierickx, close to artists like Nicolas Eeckmann, Fritz Van den Berghe, Constant Permeke or other typically Flemish expressionists such as Anto Carte, representing Fêtes , processions, fairs in the great tradition of Flemish painters dating back to the 17th century with the Brughels, but treated with great modernity. Other facets of his work show us his projects for frescoes or large decorations, often exotic, while in the old watercolors, we find a Symbolist vein with an elongated barrel. We devoted an exhibition to it (pdf catalog available by email) with the first ones found, but we have bought many since! Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
In partnership with the Galerie Lafouresse, we are specialists in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin.
