Roses and anemones
René Morère
1907 – 1942
Oil on hard cardboard 27 X 35 cm, mounted in a beautiful gilt frame with reverse slope 41 x 48 cm. Circa 1937. Suddenly interrupted by a lung condition, René Morère’s career was no less dazzling: although he sold his first painting at the age of 16, his studio in Montmartre welcomed many models from the surrounding “hot” streets and he has left us numerous representations of the inhabitants of Le Monde de la nuit, bar scenes populated by demi-mondaines, but also penetrating portraits, still lifes with characteristic lines and landscapes, both from Île de France and its Ariège d origin like here where this clump of anemones and roses set in a garden in Couserans. His works are in many public collections and are highly valued by collectors. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone. In partnership with Galerie Lafouresse, we specialize in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Bassin d’Arcachon.
