Bouquet of red roses in an earthenware vase

Blanche Odin

1865 – 1957

Watercolor 39 X 57 cm presented in its restored green and gold frame at the bottom left, “museum” glass and pH mounting neutral with battens 49 X 68 cm. Annotations by the Artist’s hands on the back were photographed before reassembly. If Redouté was the greatest watercolorist of flowers of the first half of the 19th century, Blanche Odin is the greatest of the first half of the 20th century. If, of course, it was her roses that so deservedly ensured her reputation, she excelled in the representations of all kinds of flowers as can be seen in the excellent works of Monique Pujo-Monfran or by visiting the Salies de Bagnères de Bigorre museum. Here, roses ranging from a deep red to purple, blooming or in buds, assembled in a bouquet supplied in a decorated ceramic vase. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
