Nabi painting : sunset on the coast
French school circa 1890-1900
Oil on canvas 38 X 46 cm
I continue the exploration of my reserve of paintings by this unfortunately anonymous picture.
Those who follow me (who loves me follow me!) know that I love the works representing the sea, since these “wave portraits” which Paguenaud, Auguin, Despujols or Ogier left us so many splendid examples until the rising or sunsets on the coast like here.
With an almost nabi synthetist aesthetic, it also reminds me of some old works of Charles Lacoste who worked elsewhere in our region where I found this painting.
“In its juice”, with small gaps in the bottom right, a clumsy piece on the right and stains in the old varnish.
