A Touareg

Renée Hanin

Oil on thin cardboard 75.5 X 47 cm, held by cardboard in a modern black frame with Africanist motifs 79 X 50 cm. Circa 1930. Definitely, I am the specialist of painters who do not exist! There is indeed ONE René Hanin who alternated views of Brittany and those of Algeria, but it has nothing to do with both the style and the spelling of the signature. Simple disambiguation or perhaps a wife’s name? Still, this superb painting makes you want to see others: this beautiful Tuareg or Targuie woman, camped low in front of a whitewashed wall, bracelets at the ankles and wide dress-coat releasing the arms, in its stylization is worthy of the best paintings of a Léon Cauvy, a Pontoy or an Eddy-Legrand, while being imbued with intelligence and a feminine sensitivity … Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
