The little newspaper crier
Hungarian painting
Oil on canvas relined, approximately 150 X 90cm, 166 X 116 cm to the frame, writing unreadable at the bottom right.
This extraordinary painting is worthy of the greatest museums. The newspaper Friss Ujsag is a Magyar language newspaper still published today on Hungary and Romania. He regularly commissioned artists to paint a painting on the theme of the newspaper crier, a painting that was later declined in a large advertising poster. Here we have the original which, after use, has been finalized in painting by repainting in the extension of the image the text of the bottom that we still see in light curling.
It seems to me to distinguish also a trace of signature and a date 190 ?.
A touch of incredible modernity, close to other European movements of the same era as the Catalan School (how not to think of Nonell?) Or the opposite, countries of the North.
Modern frame, extremely powerful and decorative.
