Portrait of Antoine Gaspard Grimod de la Reynière
Alexander Roslin
1718-1793
Oil on oval canvas 73 x 58 cm, mounted in a beautiful gilded frame 94 x 78 cm. Relining and old restorations. Resumption of the Roslin painting kept at the Jacquemard André Museum. Painted in the 1750s, this exceptional portrait is characteristic of the art of the great painter of Swedish origin but who, after visiting Europe, settled in Paris where he became one of the most sought-after portraitists whose works were paid enormous sums. We thank Mr. Stéphane Pinta of Cabinet Turquin for confirmation of the autograph nature of our painting, a certificate can be issued on request. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
