Italian landscape
Conrad Peter Schreiber
1816 – 1894
Gouache 58 X 41 cm, mounted by a marie-louise in a gilded Empire frame 75 X 58 cm. Signed and dated 1863 lower left. Like many other European artists, the author made “Le Grand Tour” which included Italy as an obligatory stage to try to grasp its wonders… But he also visited Switzerland and Egypt leaving remarkable documents . I have not located the landscape, but I think it is Italy, whose lights have been splendidly transcribed by the author.
