Comic strip for Ernie Pike
Hugo Pratt
1927 – 1995
Original comic strip For Ernie Pike”, Indian ink, felt-tip pen and blue pencil on thin paper, reassembled and completed on cardstock, 50 X 35 cm at sight, mounted in an old burl veneered frame with fillets 65 X 50 cm. At the request of the publisher, Pratt took old original comic strips which were cut out and reassembled to be published in a monthly in Italian. They were subsequently published in France in the albums “Ernie Pike: chronicles of war”, this one being part of the episode “Francs tireurs” of volume 2 at Glénat (1980). The Venetian Master, great traveler and creator of the unforgettable Corto Maltese, is an internationally recognized virtuoso of black and white. Our comic strip, rare on the market, is a superb example. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
