Oil on panel 32.5 X 41 cm, freshly cleaned and varnished, presented in a gilded frame 46.5 X 54.5 cm. Montalban painter very attached to his region, left us an endearing work, very anchored regionally in the South-West although he provided as a decorator many motifs for the Odetta factory in Quimper. Regular exhibitor of the Salons of Southern Artists and Independents. Sometimes almost nabi in his 1900 works, he gives us more classic landscapes in an impressionist touch or even a little divisionist in the following years as here in this view of the Basin, probably in the salt meadows of the beginning of Cap Ferret treated in a transparent material to obtain a result similar to stained glass with its fishermen’s houses and pinassottes illuminated by the setting sun on the dark sky announcing the storm… Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
