Italian surrealist landscape
Pirotta
Circa 1940
Oil on plywood 69.5 X 59.3 cm, in the state (upper layer of the split panel at the level of the signature, some small scratches and a general fouling)
I love the surreal atmosphere of this painting, the atmosphere that seems to wait for something that will never come, with this dead tree projecting a shadow more alive, and this mountain church at the foot of a snowy mountain. All this makes me think of the world of Carlo Carrà, but it is signed, if I read well Pirotta which I do not know everything!
